Children's Literature in Special Collections
Walter Crane (1845-1915)
Crane was an accomplished artist who dabbled in such mediums as tiles, ceramics, and painting. In 1863, Crane made his first attempt at illustrating children's books and proved to be quite talented. Crane is noted for his work with Edmund Evans, a revered printer, and is often noted as an important influence in the field of children's book illustration.
