Kasey Miller: For and Against Posters
Artist Statement
These two posters titled, For and Against Posters, represent equal opposite viewpoints on the controversial topic of abortion. While one poster advocates for the right to choose, the other poster argues for pro choice.
Through the use of powerful visual imagery and bold typography, each poster makes a clear and equal statement about their position. The poster for pro-choice, has our former president, Donald Trump, with his stance against pro-choice and a quote he personally said portraying his view. Surrounding him are pro-choice slogans used to fight for women’s right to choose, portrayed in the color of the opposing party. Along side Trump, the other poster with the stance of pro-life, has our current president, Joe Biden, with a quote he’s said portraying his view. And surrounding him are the pro-life slogans used to fight for the fetus. My aim for these posters were spark conversation about a complex and polarizing issue to encourage viewers to think critically and engage in both sides of this issue.
