Summer Parker: Book of Fears

Artist Statement

As a little girl fear was my middle name. The monsters under my bed, the man in my closet, and the ones who came in the dark to watch me sleep. This all kept me up at night. As an adult these fears have become passing thoughts and have yet to leave. The little girl inside of me is still scared of the monsters. So, for her I trapped all the monsters into a book. A book that can be closed and hidden away, in hopes she will forget these monsters one day.

Everyone has an inner child hidden inside of them. In order to be able to heal and  grow in our  lives we must first guide our inner child back to safety. Only then can we fully move on, except the things we can not change and become who we were meant to be. We can not fully enjoy life without our inner child reminding us  to chase the butterflies, make animals out  of clouds and to truly live carefree.

From the thoughts of a child to the mouth of an adult. What a great way to face becoming an adult and facing your fears. This book is truly a work of art. Good luck to this student for a great piece that only a child/adult could create.
