Open

The creative and applied work of artists and designers does not always fit neatly into one field or medium. The Open category for the Visual Art & Design Showcase provides a home for those projects that may cross disciplines or are too unique to fit into another category.  Regardless of the nature or goal of the visual work, projects must demonstrate a balance of form and function, excellence in visual composition, and exhibit the student’s talent, craftmanship, and vision.  Projects that are largely artistic in nature should evoke emotions and inspiration. Design projects typically begin with a purpose and may be limited by external constraints; however, result in a solution that is usable and effective. Typical projects in the Open category include landscape design, floral design, projection mapping, novel 3D printing, and other distinctive visual creations.
