Jack Stromberg: Family Memory

Artist Statement

Through my work I examine the past actions and works of my ancestors and recontextualize them through sculpture and graffiti, allowing the physical world to distort them. Taking my grandfather’s old rolls of film, I scanned, printed, and pasted them in various locations in the real world. I would let these pasted images distort in the weather and would periodically rephotograph them, making them my own. This sculpture has a collection of archived family imagery and my distortions on it, representing past and future.

Your approach and transformation of these ordinary objects are both absorbing and distinctive. Very much appreciated the final product. Great job!
