Jack Stromberg: Family Memory
Artist Statement
Through my work I examine the past actions and works of my ancestors and recontextualize them through sculpture and graffiti, allowing the physical world to distort them. Taking my grandfather’s old rolls of film, I scanned, printed, and pasted them in various locations in the real world. I would let these pasted images distort in the weather and would periodically rephotograph them, making them my own. This sculpture has a collection of archived family imagery and my distortions on it, representing past and future.
