Campus Facilities has scheduled a power outage in Ellis Library on Wednesday, August 14, from 5:00 – 8:00 am to complete some work in the building. Please shut off your computers and other electronic equipment when you leave Tuesday afternoon, August 13.

Please welcome Ali Sauer to the University Libraries advancement team! Ali will begin her role as Coordinator of Donor Engagement on August 12. She is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is a 2015 graduate of Wartburg College, where she received her B.A. in journalism and communication, with an emphasis in public relations and organization, and minors in business and leadership. As Coordinator of Donor Engagement, Ali will be responsible for donor stewardship, Library Society events, Friends of the Libraries events, and the Libraries’ annual fund. She will also be joining the Libraries marketing team and assisting with our newsletter, Library Connections. Ali’s husband Michael will be attending the School of Music this fall to begin his masters in Choral Conducting. In her free time Ali loves to travel, spend time with family, read, sing along to any and all musicals and play with her eight-month old golden doodle, Copper!

The Shelving unit welcomes Nora Purdy as a new half-time library information assistant on July 31st. Ryan Bish will be her supervisor.
Special Collections will also be welcoming a new part-time library information specialist, Shana Johnson, on August 5th. Kelli Hansen will be her supervisor.
Do you fondly remember the floppy disk? Are you not sure what a floppy disk looks like? Either way come by the Engineering Library & Technology Commons to see our new exhibit: A History of Removable Media! We partnered with Library Technology Services to bring you some cool examples of old tech.
It’s hard to believe that Fall Welcome Week is almost here! The University Libraries will be participating in the Fall Welcome Resource Fair on Friday, August 16th and we are looking for volunteers to help us staff the booth from 1-4 pm. There is no pressure to sign up to work all three hours of the event. If you can only work or share an hour with a colleague, that will be a great help! Please check with your supervisor before volunteering.

What: Fall Welcome Resource Fair
When: Friday, August 16th from 1-4 pm CT
Where: Student Center Main Floor
Description: Annually the Resource Fair provides students with an array of resources and opportunities that are available at MU. This year’s event is sponsored by Student Health and Well-Being which includes the Counseling Center, Student Health, and the Wellness Resource Center to provide a network of care to support students in achieving and maintaining overall well-being.
Taira Meadowcroft, Rachel Alexander, and Chris Pryor are serving as the Libraries’ planning team for the booth so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
