Maurice H. Weseen was born in Oakland, Nebraska, in 1891. He earned his BA and MS degrees from the University of Nebraska and accepted a teaching position at Iowa State College. In 1926 Weseen returned to Nebraska and joined the University of Nebraska faculty. He was a well-known grammar expert, whose works include "Dictionary of English Grammar", "Words Confused and Misused", "Dictionary of American Slang", and "Write Better Business Letters". Weseen was an associate professor of business English at the time of his death on April 14, 1941.
