Copyright Conundrums

Copyright raises many questions: What can I use freely? When do I need to get permission? What is covered by copyright? How do I protect my intellectual property? This workshop will provide an overview of U.S. copyright law in the academic setting and point the way to resources that help in making decisions and knowing when to seek legal advice.

Visit Ellis Library after the Homecoming Parade from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 10 for refreshments, tours and family activities. The first 100 kids will receive a free mini pumpkin. This event is free and open to the public.

Introduction to Endnote
Oct. 2 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Endnote is a powerful program for storing citation data and producing intext citations and bibliographies in a plethora of formats. Learn how to put this tool to work for your academic writing.

Starting now, if we have an online version of a textbook, we’ll let you check out the paper copy just as you would any other book.
Previously, these books could only be used inside the library.
The only core textbooks remaining on 4 hour reserve behind the Circulation Desk are the ones that aren’t available online, or that faculty have specifically requested remain there.

The Health Sciences Library is pleased to announce that we now have a new bottle-filler drinking fountain that we've installed in response to requests. We hope you will enjoy the filtered water from the new fountain on the second floor of the library.

The MU Libraries are pleased to announce that Grace Atkins has been hired as our new User Engagement Librarian. She began work at the beginning of the fall semester. Grace recently completed her Master of Science in information studies with a specialization in academic libraries at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College. In addition to serving as the User Engagement Librarian for Ellis Library’s research and information services division, she will serve as the subject specialist for digital storytelling and film studies.
