Collecting

Moving even further away from children, a new pathway for toys has been through collectors and collecting. As times change and interests shift, toy companies change production and either discontinue certain product lines or cease business altogether. Following these changes there begins to be a market for toys and collectibles that are either rare, valuable, and/or nostalgic for adults who once played with them in their younger years, or those who have some level of interest around the items or companies themselves and what these toys once meant to people.

These types of publications tend to be much more informative rather than sales oriented due to collectors often having their own means by which to facilitate their hobby. While these magazines often include price guides, they also include popularity trends, organizational methodology, and much more. Similar to model magazines, these magazines gradually fell out of favor over the years with newer collectors as much of this information is now freely available online and is often much more up to date as a result of the live updates often featured on their related websites.

Included in this gallery are three magazines which highlight different brands and genres of toy collectibles. The first magazine discusses valuation and insights into collectors markets, the second magazine is a more generalized approach to the hobby of collecting toys, while the third magazine discusses how one might decorate using collectibles.
