News & Politics

Religion for the better part of history has dominated both the subjects of news and Politics while that domination has dwindled in some capacity the influence of religion on people's morals and decisions can still be seen today. These magazines offer an opportunity for people within their respective religions groups to share ideas amongst their own communities as well as those outside these groups. Magazines like The Islamic Monthly and Augustinian Journey provide people of those religions, or those interested, with insite into what is important to the community.

The Islamic Monthly, Vol. 1, No. 1 (January 2011)

The Islamic Monthly, which is still in active publication, defines itself as an independent, nonreligious, and U.S.-based publication that fosters discussion on a broad range of issues and concerns related to Muslims in the modern world. It specifically rejects the goal of being the authoritative voice for Islam in the West or elsewhere, but rather aims to foster public discourse and intellectual debate.

Originally a print publication, The Islamic Monthly is now primarily an online magazine. While it employs a permanent editorial staff, in the spirit of public discourse and free speech, it also invites submissions, and topics vary according to each issue. It is a self-funded publication and is not funded or published by a larger media concern.
