This publication out of Atlantic City, New Jersey contained information about Casino news and games including slots, blackjack, poker and more. This particular issue is the premiere issue of the magazine, which has since been renamed to Casino Player.

This the premiere issue of The Player magazine, which later changed its name to Casino Player and is still in publication today. This issue of the magazine contained articles about how to be treated like a VIP, casino gaming in Atlantic City, a profile of Engelbert Humperdinck (a British singer), and a story about the Trump Princess luxury yacht.  In addition to these stories, there are smaller articles about powerboats, Tony Bennett, Las Vegas and Mike Warren’s Sports Picks.

The editor and publisher is Glenn Fine, who was still publishing the new iteration titled Casino Player magazine twenty-five years later, as well as Strictly Slots. Glenn Fine passed away but Casino Player remains the longest-running business-to-consumer gaming magazine in publicatiom today. Casino Player magazine touts that it contains the most up-to-date news about casinos for casual and professional players alike.

This magazine was only published for a short time but was intended to be the premier source for all things poker.

While the cover page states that this is the second issue of the magazine, the internal cover states it is the third. Published by Erik Seidel, himself a poker player, along with Annie Duke, this short-lived magazine claimed to be the ultimate guide focusing on all aspects of poker playing. This magazine was only published from January 1995 until June 1996. In fact, the main contributor Ed Hill had invested his inheritance money from his mother's death and lost most of it when Poker World failed, resulting in a lawsuit against Duke.

This particular issue’s feature story is titled “The Home Poker Game” with special cover features on “Confessions of an Ivy League Bookie” and an opinion piece on “Is Your Wallet Fat Enough.” The issue includes several strategy pieces on low limit poker, video poker, Chinese Poker, and more, and a few fiction articles.  The issue also features articles on virtual gambling, a profile of attorney turned amateur poker player Hal Kant, and an overview of antigaming legislation in Congress. The premiere issue of this magazine was published in January 1995.

Consequently, most of the articles in this issue focus on sport service profiles, how to spot scams, how to place bets (using newsletters, late telephone service, scorephones and 900 numbers). Of note, the use of 1-900 phone numbers for placing sports bets was a phenomenon that began in the early 1990s but that is not longer a service available today.
