Women’s History Month Events At Mizzou
The University of Missouri celebrates Women’s History Month every March. You can view the list of events here.
Women’s History Month (WHM) at MU is a collaborative effort by the Association of Latin American Students, Chancellor’s Status of Women Committee, Department of Black Studies, Department of Sociology, Department of Women’s and Gender Studies, Division of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, the Michael A. Middleton Center for Race, Citizenship and Justice and The Bridge in the College of Education and Human Development. Unless otherwise indicated, events are sponsored by the WHM committee. All programs and events are free and open to the public.

Empathetic Mandated Reporting: How to Respond to Student Disclosures
Responding to disclosures of sexual misconduct, equity violations, or Title IX violations requires a professional but delicate response. This facilitation instructs participants on how to navigate student disclosures while balancing reporting obligations with empathy and kindness. This session will equip participants with the basics of empathy, a deeper understanding of the Title IX and Equity investigation and resolution processes, and opportunities to practice the skills gained within the session.
Mizzou Bystander Intervention Initiative
The University of Missouri is committed to creating a healthy and safe environment for all students. We are utilizing a new in-person training program, Mizzou Bystander Intervention Initiative, to promote community connectedness and civic engagement with the overall goal of empowering students to get involved in situations where they can prevent, reduce, or respond to harm. Mizzou Bystander Intervention Initiative works to address multiple, interconnected issues including alcohol and other drug use, issues of bias and discrimination, interpersonal violence, and mental well-being.

Marie Concannon Receives National Library Award for “Prices and Wages by the Decade”
Marie Concannon, head of government information for the University of Missouri Libraries, has been awarded the 2023 NewsBank/Readex/GODORT/ALA Catharine J. Reynolds Award from the Government Documents Round Table of the American Library Association. This award provides funding for research that would make a contribution to the field of documents librarianship. The prize will be used to fund a student position in the library’s Government Information department to help expand the “Prices and Wages by Decade” web guide.
GODORT stated, “The Awards Committee is excited and impressed with your website and research project Prices and Wages by Decade, and acknowledges the immense value it offers to researchers everywhere.”
The “Prices and Wages by Decade” guide points to retail prices and average wages in primary source materials, mainly government documents. The research guide has found fans across campus, the state and the world since Concannon created it in 2012.
Concannon has received two previous awards for the “Prices and Wages by Decade” guide from the Reference and User Services division of ALA.

Welcome to Emilee Flores. Emilee moved to Missouri from Louisiana, where she previously worked in the circulation and ILL units for several years in Sims Library at Southeastern Louisiana University. She hopes to eventually enroll in the School of Information Science and Learning Technology here at Mizzou.
Welcome to Ana Gutierrez-Ramos!
We are pleased to welcome Ana Gutierrez-Ramos to the Health Sciences Library! Ana joined us at the beginning of October and we are so happy to have her here.
Ana is a senior journalism student who is also minoring in political science and middle east studies. When she isn’t working or studying, Ana enjoys creative writing, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
When asked why she liked libraries, Ana said “I like that libraries are a place where curiosity and learning are fostered. When you are in a library you are surrounded by all sorts of knowledge, and it is up to you to discover it and grow.”
