Librarians, Staff Members and Student Workers Needed for Homecoming Open House

I emailed (see below) everyone earlier that we need help with the Homecoming Open House at Ellis Library. I wanted to let you know that LMT has approved overtime pay for staff members who want to help out. You may also be able to work out leave time with your supervisor if that is your preference. Also, if you have any student workers who might want some extra hours, please let them know about this opportunity. And thanks to Cindy Cotner and Jeannette Pierce who have already said they would pitch in! Mara Inge will be offering historical tours. Thanks, Mara!

“Good morning! We will be hosting our annual Ellis Library Open House after the Homecoming Parade on Oct. 22. The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon, and we will also need some help with set up starting around 9 a.m. It’s always a fun event, we provide snacks and drinks, plus family-friendly activities, such as button-making and decorating mini pumpkins.

If you can help out (please check with your supervisor first), please let me know by the end of this week.”

Prices and Wages Guide is TikTok Famous

Taira Meadowcroft noticed a TikTok in which the creator was explaining the difference in the cost of living for Boomers vs. Gen Z/Millennials. Taira was curious about her research and noticed that she was using the Prices and Wages guide, created by Marie Concannon, to do some of her research!

Check it out!

Student Worker Gabriela Ionita Receives Lee Henson Access Mizzou Award

As part of Disability Culture Month, 12 University of Missouri community members have been recognized for their achievements in advancing accessibility.

The Lee Henson Access Mizzou Awards, named after a former Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator at MU, honor students, faculty and staff who work to make the university a more inclusive place for people with disabilities. This is the tenth year Mizzou has celebrated the award.

Gabriela Ionita, a student worker in the Digital Media and Innovation Lab, received this award for the work she did on making the library’s web maps more accessible.

Congrats to Gabriela!
