U Publish Workshop: Rights and Wrongs of Copyright in Publisher Agreements

Tuesday, March 10
3:30-5 p.m.
114A Ellis Library
Presenters: Rachel Alexander, Research Support Librarian, Health Sciences Library; Anne Barker, Research & Instructional Services Librarian, Ellis Library.

Traditional publishing agreements require that authors transfer their copyright to the publisher, unduly limiting options for online distribution, classroom use and other purposes. In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore how authors can grant some rights to publishers without signing away all their rights. Participants are encouraged to bring publisher agreements or copyright transfer agreements from journals they publish in. Online attendees may benefit from the presentation at the beginning of the session, but small group activities will not be accessible online.
