From the Suggestion Box

The users of the Zalk Vet Med Library took time out of their schedule to leave us some feedback, so we wanted to make sure to let you know we ARE listening.

Over the summer of 2025, the library did try to implement the use of power strips and power chords to provide more access around the library. However, there really wasn’t a good way to do this without also creating a tripping hazard AND some accessibility issues. Therefore, the library has implemented power banks that can be used in the library, but are also available to take with you to class, clinicals, and other CVM buildings – wherever you need power. We believe these are a much safer and versatile solution, and we hope you will soon agree. Come check one out for yourself!

As for the temperature – we know. 🙁 But that doesn’t make it better. Unfortunately, there is no easy, quick, or inexpensive way to keep an entire building a comfortable temperature and humidity when you have multiple floors, labs, and a library where books try to grow mold. Keep providing that feedback and we promise we pass it along. Facilities is consistently keep working to get things right – till then, feel free to bring a blanket.

Thank you for you so much for your input and we look forward to how we can continue to improve YOUR library.

Relaunch of the NLM Dataset Catalog

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) announces the relaunch of the NLM Dataset Catalog, a centralized, searchable platform designed to connect researchers with a vast array of biomedical datasets from multiple repositories, thus accelerating scientific research. Powered by NLM’s Dataset Metadata Model (DATMM), researchers can now effortlessly explore over 2 million biomedical datasets in one centralized location and uncover data interconnections within the broader biomedical ecosystem.

Please visit the NLM Dataset Catalog for more information or reach out to your MU Medical Librarians if you have questions.
