In 1840 a young French medical student, amateur artist, and guest of the Chouteau family of St. Louis spent the summer living with the Osage Indians. Victor Tixier wrote vivid descriptions of the Osage Indians in his journal Voyage aux Prairies Osages . Dr. Lazzaro-Weis will discuss her work on the forthcoming scholarly edition of this work.
