I. Lynn Garriott-Porter Art Exhibit
Garriott-Porter was born in Fulton, Missouri and grew up living in the country loving the natural realistic beauty of her surroundings. Art was her first love and watercolor was her first medium of choice. Later in life she discovered colored pencil and gained a new love and found with watercolor pencil she gets the pleasure of both mediums in one.
Her paintings have been exhibited in numerous shows, galleries, hospitals, businesses, Cafe’s, and competitions in Missouri and Illinois. She is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, National Watercolor Society, Missouri Water Color Society, and a Juried Best of Missouri Hands Artist. She was selected as February 2008’s profiled artist in Ann Kullberg’s Colored Pencil e-zine “From My Perspective” and chosen to have one of her watercolor pencil paintings in Ann Kullberg’s most recent book, “Colored Pencil Secrets to Success”, written for North Light Book Club and released in May 2009.
Most of her life art was only a part-time passion as she was employed full-time in the medical field. As a result most of her works have been commissioned and her specialty is in turning
“Photo Memories Into Art”. She still loves doing commissioned work and continues making new art as well as teaching art classes in her home studio. Visit The Columbia Art League Gallery in Columbia, MO and The Capital Arts Gallery in Jefferson City to see some of her works of art. Contact the artist if you are interested in having her do a commissioned work of art for you or if you are interested in taking classes.
The artist currently resides in Jefferson City, Missouri with her husband and youngest son.
Her art will be on display in the Bookmark Café throughout the fall semester.
