Scrapbook Workshop

Hey, did you know May 6th was National Scrapbook Day? I sure didn’t. Well the Daniel Boone Public Library has you covered. They are putting on a Scrapbook Workshop for all who are interested. Sally Nusbaum will be showing you how to make mini scrapbooks. They can be used for photos, journaling, or any other way you like to store your precious memories. Stephens Lake Park Plant Sale

The annual Stephens Lake Park Arboretum Plant sale is here at last. Come on by on May 7th between 8am and 1pm to get yourself some nice native plants, along with some rare and unusual trees and Shrubs. The sale benefits the Stephens Lake Park Arboretum. In case of rain, the sale will be moved under the Happy Hollow Shelter at Stephens Lake Park.

That’s What She Said

Join the Missouri Theatre, on April 15th, for the That’s What She Said performances. Part TED Talk, part Vagina Monologue, the She Said Project brings the voices of local women to the stage as they share intimate stories. Sometimes funny, often moving, but always powerful, these stories highlight the contributions that women make in their communities and the world. We have 10 local women coming to the stage to talk about their struggles, successes, joys, and hardships. Visual Art & Design Showcase

We love to support the student of the University, so why not join them for the Visual Art & Design Showcase. Mizzou undergrads will be displaying their works at the Columbia Art League from April 17-19th. They will also be their in person to discuss their artistic works. Neighborhood Watch Training

Are you worried about crime in your neighborhood? Do you wish there was something you could do to help reduce crime? Well the Daniel Boone Public Library has an event for you. They are partnering with the Columbia Neighborhood Watch Board to help residents learn how to start their own neighborhood watch. The event is on Monday, April 24th from 6:30-7:30pm. Na/GloPoWriMo

It is that time of year again. That’s right, National Poetry month is almost here and NaPoWriMo.net is putting on their annual Poetry writing challenge. Starting on April 1st, NaPoWriMo.net will challenge you to right one poem every day for the month. It is an open challenge for published poets, beginners, or just anyone who is interested in poetry or challenges. You will be able to post your poems to the site if you would like but there is no pressure to. NaPoWriMo.net will provide you with support and prompts to help you along your journey.

Tea and Haiku

If you are looking for an evening of relaxing creativity, look no further than Daniel Boone Public Library’s Tea and Haiku night. Christine Boyle will guide you through an hour of Haiku writing with a nice cup of tea. No need to register for this one, just come in and have fun. It will be held on April 11th from 7-8pm. Party With the Stars

Venus and Mars will both be visible in the early April night sky and the Daniel Boone Public Library is putting on an event to take full advantage. Join them on April 7th from 7:30-9:30pm for an evening under the stars. You will start inside with a slide show talking about the planets you are about to view, followed by a telescopic viewing of the night’s sky. If you are interested, click the link to register.

Bullet Journaling at DBRL

Life is tough at times. It can be overwhelming, stressful, and chaotic. It can be hard to keep track of everything and things can start to be missed. Well, the Daniel Boone Regional Library is here to help. On March 23rd, they are holding a Bullet journaling event from 6:30pm-8pm. They will discuss the process of bullet journaling and give you tips on how to get started. They will also supply you with a notebook and a few supplies to get start. St. Louis Museum Garage Sale

What’s the best part about going to museum? Learning about the past? Maybe seeing artifacts from bygone eras? Both wrong. The best part is getting little souvenirs from the gift shop. And does the St. Louis Museum have the event for you. Going on March 18th from 9am to 3pm, the St. Louis Museum is having garage sale for all their close-out and clearance items. But it won’t just be their merchandise there, they have partnered with the St. Louis Zoo, Missouri History Museum, Endangered Wolf Center, Campbell House Museum, Cahokia Mounds, Eugene Field House Museum, and the St. Louis Opera Theater to bring you all their souvenirs.
