Changes to MSPP, RTW, and Rebate Policy
Starting September 30, 2017, the Million Step Pedometer and Ride to Wellness Odometer Programs will be winding down. That’s because Healthy for Life is preparing to launch new and exciting enhancements to the way we provide your wellness resources starting in early 2018. Please note:
- The prizes for both programs will only be available while supplies last.
- Gift cards are no longer available as a prize option as of June 30, 2017.
- Fitbits will no longer be eligible for rebate if purchased after September 30, 2017. If you purchased a qualifying Fitbit prior to that date, you have until December 31, 2017, to submit your rebate request.

UHC Real Appeal Presentation
Caroline Murphy, UHC Nurse Liaison, will be presenting about a new program Real Appeal that is available to all faculty, staff, and dependents 18 and older who are covered by a University medical plan. Real Appeal is a program designed to improve your overall health and reduce risk factors of developing a health problem. The program helps people make small changes necessary for larger, long-term health results. Real Appeal uses a highly interactive weekly internet show, videos and live online coaching to drive small behavior changes week by week over a full year. We give you all the tools you need to succeed, and it’s paid by the UM medical plan with United Healthcare.
Employees who enroll in the United Healthcare Real Appeal program will receive a success kit that includes:
- Program success guide, nutrition guide and fitness guide
- Blender, body weight scale, food scale, workout DVDs, fitness band, pedometer and more

Who: Participation in the presentation is available to all faculty and staff with United Healthcare insurance. Covered dependents will not be able to attend the presentation, but can contact Caroline Murphy, Nurse Liaison for more information UHC Real Appeal.

Targeting Childhood to Prevent Adult Obesity (attachment – Attention All Faculty and Staff)
The main purpose of the study is to determine if parental food rules and eating behaviors during childhood are predictors of adulthood dietary patterns and weight status. Participants must be 18 or older and will be asked to complete an anonymous, 10 minute survey. Overnight Glucose Study – LIFE (attachment – Flyer Advertisement 6-13-17)
Are you pre-diabetic or Type 2 Diabetes? Do you have high morning blood glucose levels? This study will examine your overnight and morning fasting glucose levels in response to exercise at various times of the day. The study is recruiting individuals who are:
- Need both males and females
- Must be 25-65 years old
- Non-smoker, not on insulin
- Cannot have sleep apnea
- Not pregnant
