Worker Wednesday and Social Media

The Library Social Media Team is working on new ways to promote the MU Libraries and one of the ways we are doing this is through highlighting a staff or student worker each Wednesday. We are hoping that through promoting our employees, people outside the library will realize how many people it really takes to have a successful library. It might also help people realize what services are available through the different job titles that people have. Right now we are asking people to volunteer either themselves or a student to be part of Worker Wednesday by sending Nancy Messina messinan@missouri.edu an email (after May 1st please send emails to Kimberly Moeller MoellerKN@missouri.edu) talking about your interest and what you would like your post to look like. Twitter posts are about 120 characters long after adding a picture, but you can say more about yourself on Facebook. If you would like to see an example check out our Twitter (https://twitter.com/MULibraries)  and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/MizzouLibraries) accounts. Be sure to either follow us or like us to help us with promotion and marketing.

If you have anything that you think the Library Social Media Team should be highlight please pass those along as well. We need everyone’s help in telling our story to MU students, staff and faculty, especially now as we begin our campaign for the Student Library Fee.

Student Fee Update

  • It's official! The student library fee will be on the ballot in November.
  • Matt Gaunt has been meeting with student organizations and various leadership boards both individually and together.

    • The outcome will hopefully be a better vision of the open forums planned in April.
    • Based on feedback from students, the forums will likely number 2-3 on specific topics with one large general town hall type meeting which we hope can be attended by the Chancellor.
  • The Student Fee Working Group will be working with a newly formed MSA ambassador group, a team from a Strategic Communications class, and the Libraries Amassadors Communications Committee to create and implement a promotional campaign for the student fee.
