Jake Edgar: Stuck :c
Artist Satement
People are free to criticize all they want, but until they know what the day-in-day-out cycle is like for the girl at home who won’t seem to leave, their words are empty. Stuck does its best to highlight the bittersweet lifestyle of a friend with depression who is simply unable to leave her hometown. Told (with a trigger warning) by a girl whose perception of her condition is desensitized and comical at this point, Stuck wants to shed a healthy light on just what is so hard about not being able to do anything, and the small blessings that come at the end of each day.

Great work, I like the way it flows. And I also like that it is representation of mental illness in a true sense, because I feel like we don't get much respresentation of what mental illnesses can really be like in the media.

Very Nice Execution. I could really feel her loneliness. She needed someone to talk with. She really did a nice job explaining her feelings. The dialogue was brilliant. Talking about what needs to be expressed. Jacob did a brilliant job filming. The gravel roads really added a lonely touch.

WOW!! To share things so vulnerable...that is courage beyond words! True heroes, who made this film. It makes me think of a quote I recently heard by Theodore Roosevelt: "people don't CARE what you KNOW until they KNOW that you CARE" Empathy has a power to change the world. Thank you for sharing this beautiful example of one person who is in the depths of dispair and another who listens, even though it's scary, and steps into the darkness to be with them. ❤️

Wow! This was great! What a beautiful way to shed light on one girls daily struggles. One girl who represents many more. You can tell that you really care about this person and this illness that she endures. Raw, poignant and thought provoking. Loved it.

Painfully cathartic. Well told, impeccably rendered. I appreciated that the progression of a conversation mirrored what can be the mental progression of one of those bad days-- mundanity begets despair begets a measure of grace.
