Email Quotas Increasing

Faculty and Staff Email Upgrade Coming
The Division of IT is upgrading email service to Microsoft Exchange 2010. Mailbox migration will start in late October or early November. There are two major benefits. First, your mailbox quota will increase from two to 15 gigabytes. Instead of archiving messages to your computer’s hard drive, you’ll be able to store messages, and even upload past archives in your much larger mailbox. On properly configured mobile devices you’ll have access to all your stored messages when working remotely. Another benefit will be retention folders to simplify compliance with records retention policies. You’ll be able to move email messages into time-categorized retention folders directly within your mailbox, facilitating periodic review and purging.

The transfer ought to be seamless, as other departments have already been migrated with no problem.

Any users that need more than 15 gig of storage will be eligible for an increased quota. If you find you need an increase, contact LTS and we will facilitate it.

We don’t have much more information at this time, but will apprise you when we do.
