On January 25, 2023, the NIH’s new data management and planning policy takes effect. The new policy applies to all research funded in whole or partly by NIH that results in scientific data.
The new plan mandates that all NIH-funded research proposals submit a data management plan, including details about what data will be available, where it will be stored, and how it can be accessed. Data management can be included in grant budgets. Plan compliance will be evaluated during the funding period at regular reporting intervals.
Additional information can be found in our data management plan guide.
