Congratulations to Kathy Peters (Acquisitions, Ellis Library) for winning one of the Mayor’s Health & Fitness Award for 2009!
Kathy’s nomination form mentions her “phenomenal weight loss of 150 lbs. that has been achieved in less than 2 years …” through a healthier lifestyle that included “proper portions and nutrition as well as fitness through dedication to daily exercise.” Kathy “encourages her friends and coworkers to join her in activities such as walking, water aerobics, cycling and dance exercise.”
Kathy’s award will be presented to her by Mayor Hindman on May 5 between 7:30 and 8:00 pm at the ARC. This will be at the conclusion of the Health and Fitness Expo being held at the ARC that day beginning at 5:30.
Way to go, Kathy!
Congratulations, Kathy! You’re a wonderful colleague at any weight, but I’m in awe of the effort this has involved. Also wanted to let you know you inspire the rest of us whether you know it or not. There was one time when I had decided to go get a pastry at the cafe, and then I saw you walk by…and I passed on the pastry, thinking “if she can reprogram her whole life, I can surely do without this one pastry.” KATHY ROCKS!
