Welcome to the Muse, and greetings from your new content editor. My cohort, Corrie, has been doing a fantastic job so far on the technical side of things. Now it’s my turn – and yours! – to contribute.
Please show us your creative side – whether that be in the form of poems, stories, personal essays, photos, recipes, reviews (books, movies, restaurants, etc), musings, jokes, or DIY tips. The more variety, the better! I am planning to provide seasonal suggestions for content, but you are certainly not limited to those themes. Please also feel free to provide feedback to me; I am new to both blogging and Ellis, and I’d love to learn from others’ experiences.
I’m excited about the flexibility and interactivity of the blog format. We can share our unique talents and also provide encouragement to one another. During my short time as an Ellis staff member, I’ve felt a real sense of community in the library, and I’d love for that to extend to the Muse.
To contribute, please email me at blowere@missouri.edu or find me in Acquisitions (52 Ellis).
Thank you!
Erin
The Zalk Veterinary Medical Library held an Open House over Spring Break 2013.
Kate Anderson sent us two PDFs full of pictures:
The renovation pictures were on display during the open house, but if you didn’t get a chance to see them, now you can!
Take a look!
I wanted to share this pair of links about Google searching that I’ve recently seen:
– An article by John Tesdesco on Google searching: How to Solve Impossible Problems: Daniel Russell’s Awesome Google Search Techniques. (hat tip to Amanda Sprochi)
– Google is offering a free online course featuring powerful techniques to solve everyday problems using Google. Registration is open now: Become a Google Power Searcher. (hat tip to Rebecca Graves)
Martin Spilker, whose photography is on display in the Bookmark Café, is moving and would prefer to sell the photos rather than take them home. He is offering them to library staff at a minimum of $20.00 each. If you are interested in purchasing any of the photos, please email your offer to Anne Barker at barkera@missouri.edu, with Photos in the subject line. If more than one person is interested in the same photo, it will go to the highest offer. If offers are tied, we’ll have to draw names from a hat. Offers will be accepted until 5:00 on December 17.
The photos don’t have titles, but you may identify them as Waterfall, Tigers, Lighthouse, Tree, Bay, and Mountains.
