Joanne Berneche Memorial Exhibition

An exhibit for the late local artist Joanne Berneche will be displayed at the George Caleb Bingham Gallery from August 28th through September 21st with the Reception on September 7th from 4:30-6:30pm. Joanne was a local artist and educator. She taught at many local institutions and was the president of the Columbia Art League from 1979-1981. The exhibited was put together by friends of Joanne and her late husband Jerry and local art leaders. It will feature over 300 works from Joanne. Train Open House

Do you like trains, models, or are you just bored and need something to do? Well the Central Missouri Chapter of the Train Collectors Association is having an open house event at Rock Quarry House. Come by and check out all their model trains and displays. The event is from 10am-2pm on August 19th at Rock Quarry House, 2002 Grindstone Pkwy. It is free and open to the public.

Midway Country Fest

The Midway Country Fest is back. This two day event will feature 10 Country Musicians with Granger Smith being the headliner on Saturday and Tenille Arts on Sunday. The event starts at 3:30pm each night and last until 10pm. To get tickets and for more information, check out the link.

Boone County Fair

The Boone County Fair is back on July 18th and will be here through July 22nd.  There is going to be something for everyone, from rides and games to shows and live music, and plenty of food and drinks to go around. Summer Book Tasting

Are you looking for something new to read but don’t know where to start? The Daniel Boone Public Library has the event for you. They are putting on a book tasting night where you will get the chance to read samples from different genres and discuss it with your fellow book tasters. Fire in the Sky

Fire in the Sky will be back at Stephens Lake Park this year. There is going to be live music, food trucks, and activities for children starting at 6:30pm. The night will end with the fireworks show starting at 9:15pm. This should last 20-25 minutes and will truly light up the sky. For more information check out the link.

Sister Act

Columbia Entertainment Co. is putting on musical Sister Act. After witnessing a murder, Deloris Van Cartier must go into witness protection as a nun. However, the strict rules and Mother Superior are at odds with Deloris’s more boisterous self. But, when she joins the choir, she is able to use her amazing singing talent, along with her unique disco moves to reinvigorate the church and community.

Jurassic Empire

Dinosaurs are back (but for a limited time) at the Columbia Mall from June 9th-18th. This will be a drive-thru event. So, jump in your car and watch as Jurassic Empire brings dinosaurs to life with their amazing animatronics. For more information and tickets, check out their website.
