Libraries United Way Campaign – Week 4 Update

THANK YOU to those who have already logged into the MU United Way Giving Portal  (unitedway.missouri.edu) to acknowledge your plan to ‘give’ or ‘not to participate’.

Either determination is important, so please ‘participate’ by at least logging in and selecting your ‘Pledge Option’ which will allow us to know that you have received the United Way message. When you ‘participate’ you will be entered in the daily drawing for one of the “30 for 30 Prizes” sponsored by the University.

Reminder: Beginning this Friday, the Libraries will be sponsoring a weekly drawing (for the next 5 weeks) of $10 gift cards to all library employees who participate in the United Way campaign by logging on to their website and completing the pledge process. Thanks again to MULSA who generously donated the money to purchase these gift cards.

Week 4:   I’m pleased to announce that, as of October 3, the Libraries has a 19.83% participation rate and has raised $3,747.00 for the United Way so far!

THANK YOU! From all those who will benefit from your generosity in our community.

Heart of Missouri United Way Community has implemented the Community Impact service model in order to make a positive, lasting difference in the lives of the mid-Missouri people it serves. Rather than just alleviate its symptoms, Community Impact examines and addresses the root causes of poverty to bring about measurable and lasting change by focusing on Education, Income, Health and Safety Net Services.

Heart of Missouri United Way addresses the four key targets that contribute to poverty:

  • lack of access to education,
  • health,
  • income and
  • safety net services.

This approach is known as the community impact model.

All you have to do is Click Here and participate in the University of Missouri United Way Campaign 2016.

Thanks again,

Beginning next week, we will be having a weekly drawing (for the next 5 weeks) of $10 gift cards to all those who participate in the United Way campaign by logging on to their website at unitedway.missouri.edu and completing the pledge process. A great big thanks to MULSA who generously donated the money to purchase these gift cards.

If you have any questions about the United Way or the donation process, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Every gift makes a difference to someone in our community.

Thanks for all you do and have a great day,

Thinking About Chili

Hello All,

Maybe it’s just because it’s lunch time — I’m thinking about chili and about the plans progressing for the Libraries’ Third United Way Chili Cook-Off! We are planning fun, food and prizes! We’re hoping for a competition for great chili that will exceed the great tastes of last year! We’re hoping everyone will come and join in the fun. What better way to relieve some stress of the busy fall season at Mizzou than to join your colleagues and share the joy?

If you have not already, please mark your calendar for September 28, at 11:30 in 4F51A. And please do think about entering your best chili recipe — the top prize could be yours!

And please remember that the United Way has a web site where you can donate — and there are prizes the Mizzou campaign is offering for those who are in the donor pool — prizes like University Concert Series tickets, and gift cards for places like Chick-Fil-A and Andy’s Frozen Custard. It seems that the earlier you donate, the better your chances to win. So there is yet one more way to win by participating in United Way here at Mizzou. And every dollar makes a difference for folks in need of services here in Boone County.

In the meanwhile, mark your calendar, plan to join the fun, and make plans of your own to cook up a great crock of your best chili.

Thanks!

United Way Update

Dear Library Colleagues,

You may have heard that the United Way campaign has been extended to allow time to meet the goal.  The Libraries are at 26% participation and we really would like to get to at least 30% participation.  No gift or pledge is too small, and you can become eligible for prizes just by filling out a form online whether you are able to make a gift to the United Way or not.  The prize drawings will be at the Libraries’ holiday party.

Many calls for generosity go out in the holiday season, but the United Way keeps your gift working year around in so many ways here in our own community.

Thanks to everyone who has already pledged.  Just a few more of you can help the campus meet its goal.

To pledge, please print out a pledge form at: https://secureas.missouri.edu/unitedway/

To be eligible for Library prizes, please send to Mark Ellis, 104 Ellis Library. You may also send pledges directly to Natalie Taylor in Business Services 311 Jesse Hall.  Hall

United Way Pledge Reminder

Dear Colleagues,

The MU Libraries’ 2013 United Way Campaign is underway.  This is an opportunity for all of us to make a positive difference in our community.  Even a small donation is magnified substantially by the efficiency of United Way agencies.  This link will take you to stories illustrating the impact of the United Way on our area https://www.uwheartmo.org/stories-community-impact.

You can go to the United Way link to pledge online www.unitedway.missouri.edu.   Or if you prefer, contact Mark Ellis (104 Ellis Library), Mary Hainen, Ann Riley or Paula Roper.   Anyone of these individuals would be delighted to assist.

Also don’t forget that participation in the campaign makes you eligible for prizes made available through the university-wide effort. Moreover employees of the MU Libraries who participate in the campaign will have their names entered in a drawing for these gifts as well:

  • A $10 Bookmark Café gift certificate
  • Concert series tickets
  • A $25 campus bookstore gift certificate
  • A $25 Target gift certificate
  • $100

Thanks to everyone who has pledged and those of you who will pledge.
