Missouri College Advising Corps (MCAC) College Adviser Positions Open for Application

The Missouri College Advising Corps (MCAC), headquartered at MU, hires recent college graduates in all academic fields, intensively trains them on all college-going processes, and places them in its partner schools as full-time, near-peer college advisers. College advisers are immersed in partner schools, work closely with counselors and school staff, and are able to focus 100% of their time and energy working with students and their families to assist them with navigating college planning, admissions, and financing processes. MCAC’s mission is to empower Missouri students to go to college and succeed. MCAC does not recruit students to any campus but rather is a “college match” and “best-fit” program, ensuring that students enroll at institutions at which they are most likely to persist and complete. MCAC advisees are enrolled at every campus in Missouri (technical, two-year, and public and private four-year).

In 2015-16, MCAC will partner with 41 high schools statewide, located in three cities, 12 counties, and 27 school districts and will be hiring 18-20 new college advisers.

Eligible candidates will be recent MU bachelor’s level graduates (May 2014, December 2014, Summer 2014, or May 2015). Candidates must apply through the Human Resources website. The position is listed as College Adviser. Applications are open now through March 6, 2015. The attached poster provides detailed information about the application process and can be passed along.

The college adviser position starts July 1, 2015, is compensated over 12 months, is a potential two-year commitment, and provides the opportunity for recent graduates to make a difference by helping youth realize their college dreams and serve their communities while themselves being developed as young citizen leaders.

For additional information on how to apply, please contact Moises Aguayo, MCAC Graduate Assistant, at 573-882-3539 or aguayom@missouri.edu. See the MCAC website for more details about MCAC – http://mcac.missouri.edu
