Title: Library Information Specialist II

Division: Catalog Department; Access, Collections, and Technical Service Division

Location: MU Libraries

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt / Exempt

Typical schedule: 40 hours/wk; M-F, between 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; occasional need to adjust schedule to accommodate needs of the department.

Reports to: Head, Catalog Department

Rate of Pay: $12.55

Summary Description

Primary responsibilities include 1) providing bibliographic control and access to locally digitized materials and maps through original and copy cataloging and bibliographic record enhancements in WorldCat, the local catalog, and the digital repositories at the University of Missouri; and 2) overseeing the cataloging portion of the workflow for materials being digitized.  Secondary assignments include additional database enhancement and correction projects.

Assignments will require performance of responsible and varied tasks of a considerably complex nature with broadly defined responsibilities, and of duties requiring a high level of decision-making, judgment, and independence.  A broad understanding of the context within which the work is performed is required.  Work will be performed independently and collaboratively, with general guidance and periodic reviews.  Assignments may include the supervision of student assistants.

Please consider donating to the Holiday Food Drive benefiting the Columbia Area Food Bank and Second Chance.  We have until Thursday, December 13th, to fill the Food Bank tub sitting next to my desk in the Acquisitions Dept.  I promised the Food Bank that we could do it, but I need your help!  A gift card to the University Book Store is at stake, the winner to be announced at the Winter Holiday Party on Friday, December 14th.  Details of the number of raffle tickets received per item donated is explained below.  We accept cash donations, and checks made out to the Columbia Area Food Bank and Second Chance.  You will receive DOUBLE the raffle tickets for monetary donations.
