Reminder: MU Libraries’ Skill Awareness Workshop

Space is available for the upcoming Skill Awareness workshop on “Effective Listening,” July 11, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., 4F51-A Ellis.  Connie Brooks, Adjunct Associate Professor of Teaching, School of Nursing, School Communication and School of Public Health, leads the workshop and will discuss three types of listening which employees typically encounter in the workplace (and at home): listening that discourages understanding; listening that is more problem-solving; and compassionate listening. Participants will discuss how only one of those types contributes to real dialogue. Participants will increase awareness of the skills needed to promote energetic and resourceful conversations even on difficult topics.

For this and other skills workshops, attendance is voluntary and open to all library employees, per supervisor approval. You can rsvp to Leo at AgnewL@missouri.edu or simply show up on Monday.
