Weight Watchers at MOREnet
Healthy for Life is seeking to start a Weight Watchers at Work class in the MOREnet building on Lemone Industrial Blvd. Several people have expressed interest, but we are still a few members short. Once we reach 15, we will hold an open house meeting. If you’d like to join this group, send us an e-mail at wellness@umsystem.edu. Meetings will be held the same time and day each week for 13 weeks. While the day has not been determined, meetings will be held from 12-1 p.m. and you can eat your lunch during the meeting. Attached is a flyer if you’d like to post it in your work area.

This session costs $156. Payment options are available and Weight Watchers accepts checks, cash and credit card. All faculty and staff who attend 12 of 13 weeks qualify for a 25% rebate through Healthy for Life. Weight Watchers fees are fully reimbursable through the Flexible Spending Account with appropriate medical documentation.

Tips for Mindful Eating Blog
Tips for Mindful Eating: It’s more than just about food’ is a new blog that offers a weekly post with tips, articles, research, reflections, and opportunities to practice mindful eating and living through the way that you eat, move, work, play and relate to yourself, others, and the world. It grew out of the ten week program entitled “Eat for Life” developed by Dr. Lynn Rossy and Hannah Bush, M.A. offered through the wellness program. Farm to Table Festival
Mark your calendars! MU Catering and the American Culinary Federation will be welcoming national, regional and local chefs, farmers, and experts promoting the culinary and farm to table collaboration. This event takes place at the University Club in the Reynolds Alumni Center on June 12-13. Enjoy demonstrations, presentations, and hands-on workshops featuring master-class and cooking-at-home presentations with a full outdoor farmers’ market.

Preserving the Harvest
Join the University of Missouri Extension for a home canning workshop. Each session will include detailed research-based information and recipes for each food preservation method, demonstrations, and resources. Class size is limited, so register early. Smokers Needed for Online Study
Are you a smoker? Are you thinking about quitting, trying to quit or have quit in the past 6 months? Take part in an online study with some great rewards.   • Yoga Flow: June 17 to July 15. School of Nursing Room S265. Thursdays 12:10-12:50p.m. and costs $8 for the 4 week session. Office attire can be worn, a mat or towel is recommended. Whether it’s the flow of the breath or the flow of the body through poses, ‘Flow’ is a simple title that covers so much more. To sign up, email Rebekka.
  • Maguire Office Stretching: June 21 – August 16th [No class July 5th].  Office Stretch is designed to release tension from long hours of work and is great for all levels of ability.  Office attire is fine.  Classes are Mondays 11:30-12:00 p.m.  The cost for this 8 week session is $8, payable on the first day of class.   • Maguire Yogic Toning: June 24th – August 5th.  Yogic toning is a combination class of standing resistance training, standing and mat yoga designed for all levels of ability and includes deep relaxation.  Classes are Thursdays 4:15pm – 4:50 p.m.  The cost for this 7 week session is $14, payable on the first day of class.  Pre-registration is required, minimum of 10 students required.   • R & R: Renew & Restore: June 30-July 14 in room 224-225 of MORENet- Lemone Ind Blvd. Classes are Wednesdays 1:10-1:50. Cost is only $6 for the 3 week session. Bring any mental or physical tension and leave feeling refreshed for the rest of the day. E-mail Rebekka to sign up.
  • Pilates/Yoga Combination (Pi/Yo) July 9 – 23, room 224-225 in MORENet, on Lemone Ind Blvd. Classes are Wednesdays 11-11:40 a.m.  Cost is $6 for the 3 week session. A fusion of the strength and movement of Pilates and the stretch and relaxation of yoga. A mat is highly recommended for floor exercises. E-mail Rebekka to sign up.
