Weight Watchers at Work
Weight Watchers will be hosting open house meetings on Wednesday, May 5th in the following locations:

Clark Hall, Room 542 from 12-1 p.m.
University Hospital, School of Medicine, Room M586 from 11:45 a.m.-12 45 p.m.

These 13-week series are open to everyone and costs $156. Faculty & Staff who miss no more than once receive a 25% rebate through Healthy for Life. Enroll this time for a special WW deal: 8 weeks of FREE e-tools and 6 months FREE WW magazines. Payment options are available. WW accepts cash, check or credit card. Healthy for Life’s Jenny Workman, MU/UM program manager, and Armine Alioto, MUHS Nurse Manager, would like to give a brief wellness presentation during one of your staff meetings this semester, tailored to meet your needs. Stress Less this Spring
Celebrate spring with a massage! Licensed Massage Therapist Jeff Rioux provides clinical massage therapy in his office at University Hospital (GL-20). Eat for Life- Offered Online
Healthy for Life’s regular 10 week program on creating a healthy relationship with your food, body, and mind is now a course you can take online in your own home. Video and audio components teach you the foundational mindfulness practices (meditation and yoga) and the BASICS of Mindful Eating. If you have a history of chronic dieting, have rigid rules about eating, or find yourself eating when you’re stressed, bored, or unhappy, this may be the program for you. Cost is $50 for materials ($25 refunded with full participation in the class). The course starts the week of May 24. To enroll, contact Angie Bodling, bodlinga@health.missouri.edu. Workplace Fitness Opportunities
Take advantage of these classes that fit your budget. Full payment is due at the beginning of the first class and space is limited. Please contact the instructor directly to register or for questions. All classes are designed so that exercises can be performed in work clothes.

• Maguire Atrium Stretching/Toning: Apr 27-Jun 15 at 2800 Maguire Atrium. Class meets Tuesdays 11:30 – 12:00 p.m. and costs $8 for the 8 week session. This is a standing class that focuses on toning the lower body and stretching. To sign up please e-mail Lisa, lisa_blue_nagy@yahoo.com.
• Basic mat yoga: Apr 27th – Jun 15 at University Press- 2910 Lemone Ind Blvd. Class meets Tuesdays from 12:10 – 12:55 p.m. This class is designed for all levels of fitness. Healthy Eating Lunch ‘n Learn
The Campus Facilities Training Unit is hosting a “Healthy Eating” discussion by Paula Vandelicht, Hy-Vee Dietician. Bring your lunch, but leave room for samples. Join the fun May 5th from 12:00-12:30 p.m. in the General Services Building Lunch Room. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Seeking Healthy Men
The Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology is seeking individuals for a study on how different types of weight-bearing exercise affect bone health. We are looking for healthy men, 25-60 years old who are currently participating in 4hr/wk of physical activity for the last 2 years and not currently participating in strength or plyometric (jumping) training . You will receive free and supervised resistance training or plyometric training, body composition testing, bone mineral density assessment and payment after completing the study. Spring Health and Fitness Expo
Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 8th from 6-7:30 p.m. The Mayor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health will be sponsoring a health expo prior to the YouZeum’s annual Starlight Bike Ramble at 608 E. Cherry St. Stop by for health screenings, healthy snacks, vendor give-a-ways, and information on fitness classes and upcoming activities. No need to register, and the event is free.

Starlight Bike Ramble
Join us Saturday, May 8th at 8:00 p.m. for a night of fun for all ages! The Starlight Bike Ramble is a recreational bike ride for cyclists of all abilities through downtown Columbia at dusk.
