http://labor.mo.gov/DLS/PrevailingWage/debarment_list

Contractors who have been prosecuted and convicted of violating the Missouri Prevailing Wage Law are placed on a debarment list. Contractors on the debarment list are prohibited from contracting with any public body for the construction of any public works or from performing any work on any public construction project during the term of the debarment. On the right side of the screen has more information on Labor Standards in Missouri.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois, has a new project that asks the public to help transcribe 30,000 pages of documents written during the Civil War. Library officials said December 11 that they’ve set up a website where volunteers can log in and see the papers.

Web tip of the week, February 9, 2015: GoodRx

http://www.goodrx.com/

This is a great way to find the lowest price on any drug. One can download it (or use it online at goodrx.com) and put in the name of the drug you’re looking for, as well as the length of the prescription and number of milligrams. Then it will show you a map of pharmacies with the best prices near you, and sometimes offer a coupon to go with it.

Web tip of the week, January 12, 2015: Yelp

www.yelp.com

Yelp uses automated software to recommend the reviews that should be the most helpful to the Yelp community. Like any automated software, it is not perfect and it will end up hiding some good reviews that get flagged by mistake. One needs to read these hidden reviews  if he or she wishes to get the full picture.    These hidden reviews are found at the bottom of each business page at the link named "other reviews that are not currently recommended." The reviews that really should be ignored are those with one or five star ratings and that do not give good reasons for the rating given. Also it is best to avoid those reviews that use words like "best/worse ever" Submitted by Jack Batterson
