Helping employees manage stress effectively is a key goal of Healthy for Life. The wellness program offers eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction classes at minimal cost to employees looking to manage today’s busy lifestyles in a healthy way. You will learn mindfulness meditation, yoga, and body scan as well as important information about stress, communication, and wellness. Cost:  $40 for faculty, staff, retirees, and spouses/partners. Attend 7 of 8 classes and receive $20 rebate.

Orientation: Wednesday, September 25 (Memorial Union) at 5:30 p.m.

Class: Wednesdays (October 2-November 20) 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Retreat: Saturday, November 16 (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

Feel good about your body! Register for Fall Eat for Life Program — In Person or Online

Discover the benefits of this innovative approach to weight management through Eat for Life.  This 10-week program uses mind-body practices (meditations and yoga), the principles of mindful and intuitive eating, skills training, and group support to guide you in making lifestyle changes that will help you create a healthier relationship to your food, mind, and body. If you have a history of chronic dieting, have rigid “healthy” rules about eating, or find yourself eating when you’re stressed, bored, or unhappy, this may be the program for you. For more information: watch informational videos

·        Class: Tuesdays, October 1 – December 10, 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.

Cyclists, Virtual Riders and Volunteers Needed to Support bikeMS

Express Scripts is the title sponsor for the Express Scripts Gateway Getaway Ride 2013 and is partnering with University of Missouri to raise funds for and make a difference in the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis. Anyone can join us on Sept. 7 and 8 in Columbia, MO for this unforgettable experience. You can also join the team as part of the virtual rider program, if you are unable to ride. Want to get involved, but not able to join as a cyclist?  Volunteers are needed as well! When you visit the link above, you’ll be taken the Express Scripts Team page which we are a part of. Simply click join team. You can join as a Cyclists or as a virtual rider. Bicycle Education and Train/On-Road Rides

GetAbout Columbia, in partnership with Columbia Parks and Recreation, has released the fall schedule of bicycle education and trail/on-road rides.  Education classes include City Cycling (classroom and on-road skills courses) Bike Maintenance Series,  Kids’ Mountain Biking 101 and a Kids’ Bike Workshop.  Scheduled rides include the Two Wheeled Tuesday Ride series, MKT Secret Access Trail Rides and a variety of destination rides and special events.
