The MU Libraries have an immediate opening for a Library Information Specialist I in Serials Acquisitions.  This position performs multiple duties related to Serials Acquisitions including claiming, ordering, problem solving and invoicing and processing serial mail via Merlin with primary responsibilities for checking in serials and periodicals. Welcome to Navadeep Khanal

Welcome to our new e-learning librarian, Navadeep Khanal.  Nav has a MS and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign along with experience in user services, instructional technology, community informatics and teaching. Nav also has a variety of library experience in his background.  While completing an undergraduate degree in psychology at Hanover College, Nav worked as a student assistant, and later as an Assistant Manager in the Circulation Department. Later, while completing his MLS at the U of I, he worked as a graduate reference assistant in the Education and Social Science Library.  As our E-Learning Librarian, Nav will develop MU Libraries' e-learning initiatives by coordinating planning and communication across the campus and within the libraries.  Specific responsibilities will include assisting librarians with technical and pedagogical aspects of e-instruction, coordinating online tutorials and working with campus units such as ET@MO and MizzouOnline. 

Nav’s office will be located in the East Reference office suite at Ellis Library. 

Reference Position Filled

Nancy Messina has accepted the position of Librarian I, General Reference in the Ellis Library reference department. Nancy worked in the Ellis Reference Department while an undergraduate at MU majoring in geography. She was also one of our first Libraries Student Ambassadors. Nancy went on to library school at Indiana University where she specialized in digital libraries. While working on her degree, Nancy worked in the Indiana University Libraries as a graduate assistant for Maps and Government Information and as a reference assistant in the Reference Department. She most recently worked in the Archives and Information Services Division of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in Austin Texas. She will begin on October 1.

HRS 2013 Annual Training Conference

Registration is open for the HRS 2013 Annual Training Conference. The conference will be held October 22 and 23 in Memorial Union. All sessions are free. Session topics include personal and professional development, wellness, compliance and more.
