Divided Loyalties Kids’ Day Follow-Up

As part of the celebration of The Divided Loyalties exhibit in Ellis Library, two re-enactors – one representing the Union and the other representing the Confederate States – came to show and talk to approximately 50 children in two separate events about their war uniforms and what a soldier experienced during the War.   In addition to the talk, the children received treats and prizes for answering questions.

Divided Loyalties Lecture, Sept. 10

In conjunction with the Civil War exhibit, Divided Loyalties, which is currently on view at Ellis Library, Dr. Joan Stack will give a talk entitled Dressing a Civil War Heroine: Clothing, Gender and the Implications of Costume Change in George Caleb Bingham’s Painting, “General Order No. 11.”  Dr. Stack is the Art Curator at the State Historical Society of Missouri. She will speak in the Ellis Library Colonnade on Sept. 10 at 2. p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

MU Confucius Institute Donates Books to MU Libraries, Ceremony April 19

On April 19 at 10:30 am in the Ellis Library Colonnade the MU Confucius Institute will present Chinese-language and culture materials to the MU Libraries. The MU Vice Provost Handy Williamson, MU Libraries Director James Cogswell and Columbia Public Schools Superintendent Chris Belcher will speak. The MU Libraries and the Office of the Vice Provost for International Programs invite you to attend this book presentation ceremony to learn more about these important materials.
