Graves Receives Award From Dept. of PT

Rebecca Graves received the MU Department of Physical Therapy Education Partner Award 2011. The PT department surprised her with the award while she was teaching a session, giving her a plaque that reads:

“For continuing commitment and outstanding educational contribution to the students and faculty of the University of Missouri, Department of Physical Therapy. The work and spirit of this recipient exemplify the department mission of Discovery in Action…Excellent in Caring.”

Scoville Wins Award From Department of Child Health

Congratulations to HSL librarian Caryn Scoville, winner of the Outstanding Clinical Educator Award for the Department of Child Health. At the recent annual awards banquet, Caryn was recognized for the librarian/informationist support she provides to the Child Health department. Caryn participates in the education program by providing training, research support and consultations in conjunction with the Evidence Based Medicine Journal Club and Morning Report. Caryn holds degrees in biology and library science from the University of Missouri. She began working with the Child Health Department in 2008, and has been a librarian at the J. Otto Lottes Health Sciences Library since 1999.

Holland Receives Academy of Certified Archivists Distinguished Service Award

Mike Holland been selected by the Academy of Certified Archivists to receive the 2011 Distinguished Service Award.  This award acknowledges extraordinary service rendered to the Academy.  The ACA is under no obligation to present the Distinguished Service Award in any particular year, and in any case shall never give more than two such awards in one calendar year. He will  receive the award this August in Chicago at the annual ACA meeting.

DeWeese to Be Honored at Tribute to MU Women

June DeWeese will be honored at this year’s Tribute to MU Women on March 17.  She and the others have been selected for this honor because they have:
1.  Worked above and beyond the expectations of their job responsibilities to help create an environment of equity, fairness and justice for women on the MU campus, including students, faculty and staff;
2.  Demonstrated respect for the diversity of women’s experience; and
3.  Helped promote the advancement of women through education, advocacy, support and activism.

Graves Nominated for the Excellence in Education Award

On Tuesday, Rebecca Graves was recognized for being one of 20 MU faculty, advisers or academic administrators nominated for the Excellence in Education award. This award is given by the Division of Student Affairs and the MU Parents Association to faculty members, advisers and academic administrators who make “significant contributions to the out-of-class learning experiences of MU students and who have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to student learning and personal development.”
