Student Fee Meeting, 8/18/15

  • The Student Fee Working Group looked at several draft design elements provided by the student designers. One design element with some suggested tweaks was preferred. Matt Gaunt will take the suggestions back to the designers.
  • Students are also working on Student Fee website. They suggested making FAQs more positive. Will have a complete redesign of library.missouri.edu/yes by mid-September.
  • Students are working on a handout that will include an infographic and the URL.
  • Matt is meeting with student security staff on Sunday morning to talk about the fee. He also continuing to meet with student organizations.
  • Staff forums have been scheduled. Still working on scheduling other open forums.
  • We are still waiting on final subcommittee assignments from LMT.
  • Matt will have Sheila Voss schedule a meeting between the Student Fee Survey Subcommittee and the Space Planning Committee, so they can discuss the possibility of using 114 as a room to showcase ideas for renovation of the library and a place for students to give input.
  • The group discussed several options for how students could give input on how the money is spent if the student fee is passed.
  • Matt will have Sheila Voss to schedule a meeting between the Pride and the Social Media Team to discuss the best ways to use social media to promote the student fee.

Information and Action Items from Library Management Team 8/11/15

INFORMATION ITEM: Ann Campion Riley welcomed the new members of LMT:

  • Budget/Library Finances – Ellen Blair
  • Security and Facilities – Pat Jones
  • Technology – Ernest Shaw
  • Human Resources – Sheryl Cullina
  • Corrie Hutchinson joins LMT as the acting head of ACTS.

These members will be very useful to quickly discuss and communicate any operational issues as they come up during the meeting.  As before LMT will invite other stake holders to meetings as needed.
 

INFORMATION ITEM: LMT discussed two agenda items that they would like to send to Library Assembly:

  • Collection Steering Committee report – to better acquaint the assembly with their role.
  • Library Policy Review – two policies per meeting to review and consider updating or deleting.
     

INFORMATION ITEM: There has been some movement on the proposal to complete the UMLD phase II addition. The detailed building plans are being updated to submit with a formal proposal.  The new plans will include space for preservation work and a digitization lab. 


INFORMATION ITEM: Centennial Kick-Off will be September 23rd in Lowry Mall. Jim Cogswell will announce at the all-staff meeting, Thursday. Mark Ellis will send out a calendar invitation.


INFORMATION ITEM:  A Library gift announcement will take place in Ellis Library on September 11, 2015 at 11 a.m.  All Library employees will be invited.  Matt Gaunt will announce at the all staff meeting.  More information will be distributed as date approaches.
 

INFORMATION ITEM: Ellen Blair distributed and reviewed the three year expenditure spreadsheet that she will present at the all-staff meetings.  She also plans to review various miscellaneous figures such as book sale figurs, record sales and Bookmark Café earnings for past five years.


Future LMT agenda item:

  • A future agenda item will be Library safety and emergency procedures.

  • Identify collaborative opportunities, problems and/or resolution.
  • Share of key dates.
  • Identify how information is communicated to students, parents, faculty/staff

Healthy for Life Update

Registration delayed for step challenge
Because of an upgrade to the website, registration for Step Up with MU Health Care has been delayed. The upgraded website will have a different look and feel than earlier competitions and will allow for better integration for community participants.

Participants should be able to register on the website beginning Friday, Aug. 21, and registration will remain open until 11:59 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14. The start of the contest has not been delayed, so steppers should start recording their steps on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
