Aaron Astor, author of Rebels on the Border: Civil War, Emancipation and the Reconstruction of Kentucky and Missouri, 1860-1872, will engage in a live interview and Q /A about post-Civil War developments in the state of Missouri, as Reconstruction was supplanted by a widespread movement toward “white man’s democracy.”

Movie: The Battle of Island Mound

Bill Bryan, Director, Missouri Division of State Parks, will introduce The Battle of Island Mound, a movie commemorating the confrontation between Union and Confederate forces that was the first Civil War combat involving African-American troops. The Battle of Island Mound Historic Site is maintained by the Division of State Parks. A Q&A session will follow the movie.
