Physical Activity Opportunities in Columbia

Want to participate in a group exercise physical activity class this fall? There are several different options available; see below for more details. Some of these classes would count towards Tier 2 for the 2015 Wellness Incentive, as a Physical Activity on or off campus options (if completed on or after October 1, 2014). Here is a full list of Activities that will earn you points for Tier 2.

  • Ongoing (Tuesdays & Thursdays): Gentle YogaDalton Research Center. Class meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:10-12:50 p.m. $3 per class; pay by month for one or two days a week (average cost $27 or $15 per month) Class is taught by Sandy Matsuda.   • July 31 – Dec. 11 (Thursdays): Yoga. Ellis Library, Room 5, State Historical Society of Missouri Art Gallery. Class meets from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. Immerse yourself in the restorative experience of the gallery with the added benefit of Glenda Moum's yoga instruction. No registration needed. Fee: $1 per class.   • Aug. 18 – Dec. 10 (Mondays & Wednesdays): Lunchtime Me-Time Strength Conditioning. Townsend, Room 107. Class meets every Monday and Wednesday from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. and costs $1 for each class. No class on Sept, 3, 8 and 10. No registration needed. Class is taught by Nani Fudge; email questions to FudgeK@missouri.edu.
  • Aug. 19 – Dec. 9 (Tuesdays): Yoga. Townsend, Room 223. Class meets every Tuesday from 12:15-12:45 p.m. and costs $1 for each class. No registration is needed, and class is taught by Glenda Moum. If you have questions, email Glenda at MoumG@missouri.edu.

  • Sept. 15 – Oct. 20 (Mondays): Zumba Gold. Missouri Psychiatric Gym, Basement. Class meets every Monday from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Please register. There needs to be a minimum of 7 participants. Zumba Gold is based on the same Latin and international dance moves as Zumba. However, Zumba Gold is designed for active older adults using less intense, lower impact moves. Raise your heart rate and improve your flexibility in a fun atmosphere. Join us for this easy-to-follow, dance-based fitness program. Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothes.
