Marie Concannon has been elected Chair of Depository Library Council (DLC), the advisory committee to the Public Printer of the United States and the U. S. Superintendent of Documents. The current Public Printer, Davita Vance-Cooks, was nominated by President Obama in May 2013 and confirmed by the Senate. Concannon was appointed to Council by former U. S. Public Printer William Boarman in 2012. She was recently elected Chair by fellow members of Council, and took office in June.
DLC's role is to advise the U. S. Government Printing Office (GPO) on matters of federal information policy and access in the nation's 1,200 depository libraries, including academic, state, public, law and special libraries. DLC works with GPO to plan the annual meeting of Federal Depository Libraries in Washington as well as two additional virtual conferences in the Spring and Fall.
As Council Chair, Concannon was recently invited as a VIP guest to the American Association of Law Librarians (AALL) annual meeting in Texas, where she spoke at the Government Documents Special Interest Section Meeting and met with AALL's Director of Government Relations.
