Wellness Challenge Kits
Would you or your department like to start a walking or weight loss challenge? Healthy for Life has created template kits to help you get started. Included in these kits are directions on how to start a group competition, sample marketing materials and sign-up sheets. Email wellness@umsystem.edu if you’d like to receive a kit electronically or by campus mail.
Get healthy with Weight Watchers
Have you been thinking about joining Weight Watchers? Faculty and Staff have several Weight Watchers discount options:
- Weight Watchers offers a discount for faculty and staff who enroll through its portal system.
Ø Login Instructions: Go to https://wellness.weightwatchers.com and enter the MU ID 46814 and passcode WW46814. It will then take you to the next page where you enter your information and set up your website user ID and password. Be sure to specify which location you want to attend a meeting. Enrolling through this portal will give you a $39.95/month membership instead of $42.95!
- If you are a Coventry member, you are eligible for a discounted rate to enroll in Weight Watchers online. For $55, you can access recipes, tracking tools and chat boards for three months.
Exercising in the Heat Safely
- Clothing should be loose, light-weight, and light-colored to reflect the sun’s rays. Cotton material helps to absorb sweat
- Wear sun-block
- Avoid exercising from 10am-3pm as this is the hottest time of the day
- Fluid replenishment before, during and after exercise is essential to avoid progressive dehydration. Strive to drink 7 to 10 ounces of fluid every 15 to 20 minutes during exercise.
