Walking Groups
Walking is great exercise, whether you are a novice or a regular walker. Join Amy from Ultramax Sports on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for a midday walk break from 12:30-1 p.m. She will be leading these walks each week through Aug. 11. No registration is needed and all activity levels are welcome! This is free and anyone who attends 12 times in 6 weeks will get a free T-shirt. Schedule a wellness presentation or workshop
Schedule a Healthy for Life representative to speak at your next faculty or staff meeting. They can tailor their talks or workshops to meet your department’s needs and time constraints. Tobacco cessation options available
We understand that quitting is not easy, so Healthy for Life has a variety of options available for faculty, staff, retirees and dependents:
- Resources include coaching, classes and nicotine replacement therapy
- myChoice and myOptions Health Plan members are eligible for free online and telephone coaching: see details here.
- UM Prescription Drug program covers buproprion SR (generic Wellbutrin SR) and Chantix under the formulary. Contact your health care provider for a prescription. You can also call ExpressScripts customer service at 1-800-955-1201 for more information.

Campus Walking Maps & Pedometer Program
Walking Kits & Maps
Now is a great time to get moving and create a culture of health on campus! It’s easy to get started. Healthy for Life has FREE walking kits that provide directions to lead a walking group or competition. If you’re interested in leading a group or competition, email Blaine at SnowB@umsystem.edu. Walking maps are available on the Healthy for Life website at www.wellness.umsystem.edu.
Million Step Pedometer Program
The maps are a great way to get started with the Million Step Pedometer Program. There are a variety of prizes for every million steps you take—with no limit.
- Basic pedometer: $15
- FitBit pedometer: $39.50
If paying by credit card, please contact Healthy for Life at 573-884-1312 and your pedometer packet will be sent to you via campus mail.
If paying by check, send checks via campus mail (made payable to Healthy for Life) to Healthy for Life at 202 Heinkel Building, MU Campus.

Ride to Wellness Program
This program is designed for University of Missouri faculty and staff to get moving by counting their bicycle miles. For $20, participants receive an odometer and a log book. Once you reach 500 miles, you get to keep the odometer and you’ll receive a T-shirt, certificate and a $20 rebate. There are a variety of prizes for every additional 500 miles—with no limit.
