The Honors College Humanities Sequence presents
Chants of Hildegard von Bingen
performed by Margaret Waddell
Ellis Library, Room 201
Monday, Feb. 20, 12 noon-1pm
Join us for a transporting, inspiring lunchtime concert of medieval music.
Hildegard von Bingen was a Benedictine abbess in the 12th century. She composed 77 chants, plus a morality play containing 87 chants called Ordo Virtutum (Order of the Virtues), which is the earliest known western music-drama by a single composer. Unlike Gregorian chant, Hildegard’s expressive melodies contain large leaps, with the range sometimes spanning well over an octave. Please join us—and encourage your faculty and staff to attend as well.
As I mentioned at the All-Staff Meeting, there is an internal calendar to keep track of external (open to the public) events that are taking place in Ellis Library. These events are primarily in the Colonnade and the Grand Reading Room. A link to the calendar is now available on the staff web page.
Rebecca Graves’ assistance on a chapter of Fundamentals of Health Care Improvement: A Guide to Improving Your Patients Care was mentioned in the author’s acknowledgements page.
Congratulations to Sean Witzman. He received a Staff Advisory Council Staff Development Award for funding to travel to the 2012 Music Library Association National Conference in Dallas, Feb. 15-19.
