The search committee for the position of Special Collections Librarian/Archivist has identified a candidate to interview. The candidate’s resumes, cover letters, and reference letters will be forwarded to library staff as part of an Outlook schedule-a-meeting notice. The itinerary and evaluation form will be distributed closer to the interview date.
Kelli Hansen will interview Thursday, Oct. 21. Ms. Hansen is completing her MLS at the University of Texas at Austin. She has a Masters in Art History from MU-Columbia. Ms. Hansen’s work experience includes a Research Associate position at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History (2009-2010) and as web editor for the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (2006-2008). She also worked as a LIS II in our Special Collections/Rare Books department (2004-2006).
Ms. Hansen’s presentation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday October 21st in the Ellis Reference Conference Room (159 Ellis). The topic is “Assuming you believe an academic library’s special collections and rare books department to be an important teaching tool and a resource for scholarly research, what are three concrete ways the Special Collections and Rare Books unit of the MU Libraries can make its collections and services more relevant in the academic curriculum of the University of Missouri?”
A second candidate was invited to interview but withdrew from the search just his week. The search committee is evaluating recently-received resumes to determine if any last-minute candidates might merit further consideration.
