Job Vacancy: Delivery Attendant

Delivery Attendant – 50%, 20-25 hours/wk; M-F.  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 9AM-2PM, and Wednesday, 8AM-2PM; occasional need to adjust schedule to assist with special projects or coverage needs. $11.08/hr. Duties: Perform a variety of tasks associated with sorting incoming and outgoing mail. Operate various specialized equipment. Perform daily internal mail delivery to all departments within Ellis Library. Receive and help unload incoming supplies, materials, equipment, etc.  Perform daily pickup of recycled paper throughout Ellis Library.  Work primarily in and around the Ellis Library receiving room and dock area. Functional contacts include co-workers, other department employees, and University staff, students, and the public. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read and write.  One year driving experience.  Possession of a valid state driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to work independently and under pressure.  Must be able to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds or more; use a pallet jack and other equipment used to move supplies, boxes, etc. between buildings, among levels within a building, between departments. One year of related work experience. The ability to read and write and comprehend typical communications with supervisors.  Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others and as a team. May use accessory equipment such as 2-wheel dollies, fork-lift and etc. in loading and unloading truck and associated duties. Maintain a working knowledge of current postal rules and regulations.

What is an iTouch, what does it do and how will it and similar handheld computing devices impact library services?  Judy Maseles will demonstrate how the iTouch works and why we in the libraries need to know.  More people than ever are using mobile devices for a wide variety of purposes including communication, internet access, education, text messaging, and entertainment.
