Reclassification Recognition

Congratulations to Pat Jones on her reclassification to Security and Safety Coordinator. The title change recognizes the additional responsibilities associated with daily facilities maintenance and management. This is in addition to the responsibilities of serving as head of library security. Pat took on these duties following the vacancy of the Assistant Director for Administrative Services position.

Hello to Dirk Burhans

Hello to Dirk Burhans, part-time, Research Specialist, HSL. The position works under the general supervision of the Health Sciences Library Research Consultant (p-t), and in collaboration with the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Liaison representative, and with oversight from the Health Sciences Library Director. Primary duties include statistical data analysis, producing various reports and maintaining paper and electronic files related to library research project activities. Dirk has a Ph.D. in Biology from MU. Dirk has previously worked in ecological research and as a Library Associate at Columbia Public library. He is also a freelance non-fiction writer.

QuitNet is offered at no additional cost to the employee and includes nicotine replacement therapy on request. Healthy for Life Update

•    The University of Missouri is facing many challenges in the current budget climate…learn skills for partnering with the impact of change so that it becomes an opportunity, not just a problem. Join us for a Managing Change Effectively Workshop on Jan. 27 from 12 p.m.– 1p.m. at the Ketchum Auditorium in Lafferre Hall.  This workshop is FREE and no registration is needed. Presented by Dr. Lynn Rossy, Health Psychologist for Healthy for Life, the T.E. Atkins UM Wellness Program.

•    The University of Missouri Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will provide a series of occupational stress workshops designed to help employees manage a wide variety of stressors connected to the work context.  Pre-registration for each seminar is required and space is limited to 50 participants per session.

Healthy for Life recognizes that many off-campus employees won’t be able to join at At-Work meeting, so the wellness program is extending its 25 percent rebate to benefit-eligible employees who enroll in a three-month Weight Watchers Online course for $65 and miss no more than one class. •    Time Change! You spoke, we listened. Country Line Dance now starts at 5:15. This should provide more time for participants to arrive at Memorial Union and park. The time change is on the attached flyer. Please do not forget about the Salsa and Tango classes that are still in session as well.
