|Description:||This is the first edition of Halhed’s important grammar of Bengali, designed for use by employees of the East India Company. The publication of the work involved the establishment of the first Bengali printing press in India.|
|Condition/Repair:||There is tape damage to several of the pages towards the beginning of the book. The text block is largely detached from the binding, and there is damage to both covers. The title page will be deacidified and tape removed from the affected pages. The book will be resewn and recased, preserving as much of the original binding as possible.|
