John Hawkesworth, the editor, added much material of his own and was severely criticized for the book's inaccuracies -- the bad reviews are said to have contributed to his death! |
| Condition/Repair: | The front and back boards are both detached from the rest of the book. The spine and text block are broken. The conservator will resew and re-back the book, preserving the original boards and endpapers, and make minor page repairs. |
