Description: The Czar Demetrius or “the False Demetrius” lived during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. He claimed to be Ivan IV’s son and took the Russian throne, in 1605. The people revolted because of the man’s Polish ways and he was put to death. Another man soon claimed that he was Czar Demetrius but was killed in 1610 while attempting to seize the throne. The author was a prominent writer during the early 18th century.
